City of Alhambra Fire Department Collapse Trainer, Alhambra, CA

MCE’s structural design was used for the Alhambra Training Facility. This facility includes a Fire Command 7 Bay Street-Scape Collapse Trainer, WRG Trench Rescue Trainer and a four-Story Class-A Structural Trainer.

Newport Fire Training Facility, Newport, Oregon

MCE provided structural design and construction administration services for this four-level fire training facility, which consisted of a renovation and addition to the existing CMU building. Structural framing for the floor levels was in-filled between the perimeter CMU walls and consisted of structural steel columns and beams with composite concrete floor slabs.

Columbia River Fire District Regional Training Facility, St. Helens, Oregon

This project consisted of several different structures within the training facility. MCE provided structural engineering services including calculations, drawings, and construction services for a six-level steel-framed fire training structure. The structural framing consisted of structural steel beams and columns and utilized a composite concrete deck. The lateral system for the building was Special Steel Moment Resisting Frames. Exterior walls were framed with light gauge steel girts and a metal panel siding.

Snohomish Fire & Rescue Training Facility, Snohomish, WA (Design-Build)

MCE provided structural design services for four structures within the new training facility for Snohomish Fire & Rescue. All three structures were constructed using structural steel framing, with the largest building being five stories high. Typical gravity framing for the five-story tower consists of structural steel beams with a composite metal deck. The lateral system for the tower consists of special steel moment resisting frames designed to provide a large degree of ductility during a seismic event.

Escondido Fire Department Fire Training Tower, Escondido, California

MCE provided structural engineering services including calculations, drawings, and construction services for a six-level, 7,200-square-foot steel-framed fire training facility for the Escondido Fire Department. The structural framing consists of structural steel beams and columns and utilized a composite concrete deck at all levels. The lateral system used for the building is Special Steel Moment Resisting Frames. Exterior walls were framed with light gauge steel girts and a metal panel siding.

 

City of Hillsboro Ronler Acres Fire & Rescue Design of New Trench Prop Fire Training Apparatus, Hillsboro, OR

Miller Consulting Engineers collaborated with the Hillsboro Fire Department to develop a below-grade apparatus consisting of concrete sidewalls, as well as a combination of concrete pipe culverts that tie into the structure. The purpose of the apparatus is to allow the ability to install concrete slabs either at angles or horizontally, creating different elevations for which to train personnel. Also, it was requested that at certain points vertical concrete elements could be installed in the trench prop to practice penetrating or cutting through vertical walls of concrete.

Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Fire Training Tower, Salem, Oregon

MCE provided structural engineering services including calculations, drawings, and construction services for a five-level, 8,100-square-foot steel-framed structure used for fire training at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training facility. The structural framing consists of structural steel beams and columns and utilized a composite concrete deck. The lateral system for the building was Special Steel Moment Resisting Frames. Exterior walls were framed with light-gauge steel girts and a metal panel siding.
