Solarworld
As part of infrastructure improvements for the facility, Miller Consulting Engineers, Inc. provided structural design services for the Solarworld facility. This high tech manufacturing facility was originally owned by Komatsu Silicon America, and was acquired by Solarworld in 2007. As a result of this acquisition, Solarworld was in the process of retooling the facility for photovoltaic manufacturing.
Miller Consulting Engineers provided structural engineering services for the contractor on this project to provide value engineering and problem solving to key areas of the pipe support and equipment anchorage.
Innovative, economical bracing systems were utilized in order to accommodate the existing conditions of the facility. Miller Consulting Engineers, Inc. visited the site, inventoried and identified the key piping and equipment requiring seismic bracing. For this project our staff members worked closely with the contractor to provide customized structural details that were generated to ensure the ease of installation.
For this project Miller Consulting Engineers worked as a subcontractor to Kinetic Systems. For more information about Solarworld USA and their products, their web site can be found at solarworld-usa.com
